| Frequently
Asked Questions
Q. I don't like the termination line across
the hood and fenders. Is it possible to cover the whole hood and
fenders?
A. Absolutely. We recommend it and we do a lot of them. The pre
cut kit is designed only to be a cost effective means to get your
car's hood and fenders protected. The extra coverage that the full
hood and fenders provide is well worth the extra cost.
.
Q.Should I wash and wax my car before you guys install the
film?
A. Wash, YES. Wax, NO. We would greatly appreciate a clean car to
do our work on even though we do thuroughly prep each car prior
to film installation. If the car has been recently waxed it will
be necessary for us to strip the wax prior to installing the film
so the adhesive will stick.
.
Q. Does the film turn yellow eventually?
A. With the new technology in polyurethane film production it is
possible to produce films that resist yellowing for a lot longer
period of time than before and any color change will be hard to
detect with the human eye. The length of time that your film will
stay crystal clear also depends on how you maintain the film, what
products are used on the film, as well as environmental factors
such as sunlight and air pollution. Keep in mind that the film application
is not designed to be permanent and can be replaced when it exceeds
its aesthetic lifespan.
.
Q. How long does it take to install the film?
A. A front end kit, for example, will take between 3 and 4 hours
depending on vehicle size and complexity of the coverage areas.
A front end kit covers Hood, Fenders, Mirror faces, and Bumper.
Q. How do I avoid the chalky wax
buildup on the edges of the film?
A. Avoid using paste wax. There are a number of high quality LIQUID
polymer polishes on the market. The liquid products are easier to
use and they dry clear so they won't leave chalk behind. If you
have to use a paste wax then take a damp microfiber rag and wipe
along the edges to remove any wax buildup. Never scrape with your
fingernail or any other object. This could scratch a line on the
paint at the edge of the film that won't be noticeable until the
film is removed.
.
Q. Do I have to do anything special to care for the film.
A. Just wash and polish it like your regular paint. Microfiber rags
and mild, detergent free, soaps are the best to use and can be purchased
at most local automotive and grocery stores. Regular washes will
ensure that bugs and other debris won't be permanently stuck to
the film. No harsh chemicals or abrasives should be used.
Q: I just got my car repainted. How soon can I get a Clear
Bra?
A: If the car was baked in a thermal booth then you honestly only
have to wait a couple of weeks. But to be conservative we usually
recommend waiting at least 30 days to let all the solvents "out
gas" from the paint. Trapping uncured paint solvents underneath
a Clear Bra spells disaster later on down the road when it’s
time to remove the bra. If the paint job is prepped well and cured
well the Clear Bra will not damage it.
